Poptones
Previously approached by Jamaican musician Bob Marley to capture his 1973 UK tour, British photographer and designer Dennis Morris was offered to document the Sex Pistols four years later. Front man John Lydon impressed by Morris’s pictures continued working with him after the Pistols demise, for his new group Public Image Ltd. In 1978 Public Image had their logo designed by Morris, based on an asprin with the acronym PiL written over it. A year later upon release of the second full length Metal Box, Morris came up with a packaging concept to put the album in film canisters the same size as 12 inch vinyl with the Pil symbol embossed on it. Morris’s work are now highly sought after commodities and has been featured in publications including Rolling Stone, Time, People Magazine among others.
